There are two regular rifle limited bear seasons. The 1st season opens September 2 and closes on September 30, 2020 and is a limited (draw required) rifle season. Any unfilled licenses may not be used during the 2nd rifle bear season.
The second bear hunt in all three of our Game Management Units (45, 48, and 49) is over the counter with a cap for archery, muzzle loading, and the concurrent deer and elk rifle hunts. This means you can buy your tag over the counter, but you should buy early because only a limited number are sold.
Archery bear season opens on September 2 and closes on September 30, 2020. Muzzle loader is September 11-19, 2021. These are over the counter licenses and are not available in the draw.1
Bear rifle season runs concurrent with the elk/deer seasons; the licenses are valid only during open rifle deer or elk season dates. Bear hunters must have a rifle deer or elk license valid during any date of the regular rifle seasons for the same GMU.
